Rules for the travel document copy
Presenting a copy of a travel document that does not comply with the requirements may result in a refusal to issue the e-Resident’s digital ID card. Find out below what you need to pay attention to.

The quality requirements
The travel document copy must be:
- in colour
- clear and in focus
- clearly readable
- unaltered by computer software
- in .JPG .JPEG or .PNG format (.PDFs are not accepted)
- no bigger than 1.3 MB
What your travel document copy must include
Please provide a copy of at least one type of document:
The copy/copies must:
* If these details are located on another page of your passport, please include a copy of those pages in addition.
- the personal data page of your passport
- copies of both sides of your European Union ID card
The copy/copies must:
- show the document number*
- show the period of validity*
- contain no other objects or people
- not be cut off or cropped
- be in clear contrast to the background

Validity requirements for third-country citizens
Travel documents for individuals from countries outside the European Union and Schengen area must be no more than 10 years old, in accordance with Schengen entry standards.Examples
